Moving from Jobseeker's allowance to Benefit?

I recently finished University and can't find any sort of work. I worked for about three of the four years I was in Uni, so I thought I'd qualify for JB. Turns out it was assessed on 2007, when I only worked 12 weeks 20 hours per week. THerefore I only got JA at a reduced rate as I'm living at home. I'm just wondering, if I'm still unemployed by the new year ( fingers crossed, not), will I be able to switch over to JB, based on my contributions from 2008. I worked 9 Months in 2008, 20 hours per week. The big reason why I'd like to be on JB is that you can apparently take it for three months while going abroad to look for a job. With the IMF predicting 15% unemployment by next year, it is increasingly seeming like the only option available.

If you have sufficient contributions to qualify for JB in 2010 (assuming that you're still claiming), then yes, you can apply for JB at that time.

hi just wondering did you ever manage to switch from JA to JB? is it possible? curious for similar reason
