Hi all

I just received a letter this morning from the Social Welfare office that I will not be getting jobseekers benefit anymore and to apply for job seekers allowance.

Will they call around to my house to discuss means testing or do they do this at the desk?

Also will they notify you of their arrival i.e. write to you to tell you that a rep will be calling over to you to discuss your application.

If someone could let me know what the procedure is.

Thanks

You will be asked to complete an application form for Jobseeker's Allowance and supply items such as bank statements, etc.

Generally the assessment is desk-based, but the local office has the option of sending an inspector to your home. Yes, they will usually make an appointment if a visit is required.
