Moving from fulltime to contract employment

I am currently contemplating some IT contract work and leaving my current fulltime position for a multitude of reasons which I dont want to discuss at the moment.

I am concerned about any benefits I may be entitled to if contract is cut short..( 1 year contract) as wondering if I would be entitled to Jobseekers benefit based on my current permanent position and the associated contributions already made.

Any suggestions welcome..

Clarecelt; If you are going on contract from full-time with same company on a paye basis your jobseekers benefit will accrue as normal.

If you are going self-employed IT contractor , you go into that pot and I think(not sure) you will lose automatic J B Benefits.If you contact or,call into any Social Welfare office , they will quickly advise and are generally very helpful.
