Moving Bank Branch

I want to move my account to another branch of the same bank where it's more convenient for me. No direct debits or standing orders.
Do I just call in to the branch that I want to move to?. TIA.
 
It isn't possible to do it as far as I'm aware. I tried to do it years ago and was told the only option is to close the account and re-open a new one (that was AIB).

I was complaining to someone about this who told me she had studied in UCC (no other connection to Cork) and still years later had had to travel down from Dublin because there's no way to switch accounts. There may be other banks that allow it but I believe its across the board.
 
I did this with UB a few years ago by sending a letter to the branch I was with requesting a change having been told by an employee. Not sure whether it actually happened as I'm not sure I needed it since though.
 
You will have to close it at the original branch and reopen at the new one, I am not sure why you want to do this, my own UB account is not in the town I live it and this has never been an issue for me.

I'd imagine you would need to close one and open another but hard to know why you would even bother as realistically how many times do you need to do anything in the branch that requires it to be the exact branch you opened it in.

Actually my current account is in a Dublin branch of my bank that I have never been in and I live 4 hrs from there, in the past 20 odd yrs I have never needed anything in the bank that would necessitate me travelling to Dublin to that branch.
 
I'm not sure how it is with PTSB, but I haven't been to 'my branch' of AIB since 2010. I've taken out a mortgage, an overdraft on my existing account, and a car loan since then without any issues.

I used to bank with Ulster Bank, and didn't go back to my branch after I left college. The only time it was an issue was if I lodged a foreign currency cheque, they had to send in the internal mail to my branch. This was back in 2008 so I'm sure things have moved on since then.
 
So if I have a cheque to lodge ( which I will have soon), could I use the branch that is now nearest me without going to the branch holding my accounts!
 
With Ulsterbank myself and haven't darkened the door of my specific branch in about 5 years. Have been to other branches, opening saving accounts there, adding people to accounts, getting a loan, mortgage, lodged cheques, etc.
Never had to go back to "my own" branch.

Hello,

I don't see why not - with the automated lodgement machines, you put your sort code and account number on it so funds are directed to the correct account, it shouldn't matter what branch the account "resides at".
