Moved to PTSB

Hi all,

I have moved to PTSB from AIB.

Some questions.... Can I transfer money between the two with no fees using internet banking?

I have an online notice 7 account and savings account with AIB. Should I wait until a particular date until I move money....i.e when the meager interest is paid.

You get free banking with TSB if you transfer in 1, 500 per month. Once you do that you can transfer money online to any account for free. I'm assuming you're not transferring to an AIB current account, as this account could cost you fees to have.

You don't have to close you AIB saving account at all if you wish. You can have savings accounts at any bank, you don't need a current account with them. Close saving accounts only if you get a better. rate elsewhere (possibly not PTSB)....take a look at the savings best buys thread

You are paid interest based on an accrual period which is a daily calculation rather than based on the lump sum on payment date. i.e. No need to wait till pay date to close the account.

That AIB account pays a low rate. You are best off switching.

Thanks for the info Ciaran, I never knew it worked like that.

What happens if I move the money and close the AIB deposit account. Will AIB still put money in another account?
