Moved Jobs - Pension Query

I recently moved jobs. I was with my old company 2.5 years. They contributed to my pension fund fully (10% of salary). I didn't need to contribute.

Can I transfer their contributions into a new pension fund? I heard that it's the law from last July that if you were with a company 2 years, you can transfer their contributions into a new pension fund. It this right?

The 2 year vesting period for employer contributions has been the rule for a long time now as far as I know. So you should be OK and you should not lose the employer contributions on leaving the job or transferring the fund. Transferring to another employer fund also means that you transfer in your vesting period so even if your were only in the new job for less than two years it should mean that your cumulative vesting period from the old job secures employer contributions from the new employer. Make sure to check the other implications (e.g. charges and fund selection) when effecting any transfer from one pension to another.

Is there any website I get the offical stance on this as I am going to follow it up with my previous employer. Thanks

You need to be a MEMBER of the COMPANY PENSION PLAN for > 2 years (not merely an employee for more than 2 years).

Yes - I was assuming that this was the case but on re-reading the original post I guess it's not definitely so.
