Mould in gypsum??

Hi There

Our plasterers finished upstairs 3 weeks ago and I now see black mould appearing on the ceiling - dots of it?

Is this normal? What causes it and more importantly how do I ensure it doesn't get worse!!

Probably just related to the damp and humid weather we've been having- particularly if the ventilation has been poor.
 
Might be worth checking if you have any water dripping on the spots from above - a quick look in the attic might be worth while.

I check above and that is fine. The ventilation as been good in that all the windows are open and the patio doors!

They actually finished upstairs in fast time (huge crew - 1400 sq ft upstairs) - so maybe it was just alot of drying.

From your replies, no need to be concerned then??

Wouldn't think so- relative humidity has been high enough in recent weeks and think of the gallons of water that were used in plastering the house- it takes time to dry out and if drying conditions are poor this can lead to some mildew. Best to rinse it off with a mild bleach solution when dry and before you decorate.
