We've a wedding in Canada next summer and toying with the idea of hiring a motorhome arriving in Calgary going down around Banff, Jasper etc it would be for 2 weeks. Anyone got any experiences of driving in canada, staying in campsites etc.

All tips advice would be much appreciated.

Banff is beautiful. I have driven to it from Calgary. you should have no problem driving, the roads are great.

Just back from that very thing on Friday! Rented an RV and drove around Vancouver Island and then up the Okanagan Valley for 12 days. No probs whatsoever driving - (we had a 25ft RV) the vast majority of the roads we were on were like dual carriageways so there was no feeling of traffic building up behind you. And even on the 2 lane roads, the cars kept well back if they couldnt get past - no pressure whatsoever.

We stayed mainly in the provincial parks where there were no hook up facilities but you dont need these unless you need electricity - e.g. charging mobiles/ using microwaves. These camps came in at an average of CAD20 per night and they were in the most spectacular locations.

For info, in Canada, any RV shorter in length that 30ft has no generator installed.

The Visitor Info centres were great for info....

If you need any further info, let me know. The better half got a GREAT deal on the RV through http://www.ukandeuropetravel.com/. it was half the price of going through Cruise Canada.
