Motor tax same car diff tax rate

i recently purchaesd a 2007 new model Ford Mondeo Zetec
Will i always have to pay the old motor tax rate (pre 2008)
even though my car has identical emmission levels than a 2008 model?
 
Yes, i bought an 07 car from new and even though the emmissions would be identical if i purchased the same car today the tax rate would be different. Crazy....
 
Simple answer is Yes you will have to continue paying the old tax rates.
 
The title should be corrected to 'different car, different rate'

Anyone got a link to where you can put in a cars details & it will tell you it's emmision rate?
 
If it was taxed under the old regime then that's how it will stay.

VRT is different though.
 
Hope it does if not my 400 tax would go to 1000. Make a lot of older cars worthless.
