Motor Tax refund?

Hi,
In December I paid for a full year of tax on my then car.
Not knowing at the time i was going to replace the car in January.
I contacted my local Motor tax office this week to see if i could get a refund for the remaining 10 months or transfer the tax to my replacement car.
No chance i was told!
Are they correct? or is ther any way around this.
I would have thought this breached my consumer rights.

Any advice greatly appreciated,

can't transfer.

can get refund if old car scrapped.

Cousin had the same problem as yours before, no refund allowed in this case, out of luck

Definitely no refund, you will often see cars advertised with tax paid until june '07 etc.
