Motor Tax - Non use decleration

Hey, can anybody tell me what the story is with declaring non use of my car so I don't have to back tax it for the last couple of months I've been away?

I've been told that it's no longer possible to do. Is this true? The form still has the option so I'd assume that it's still ok to do this. Maybe I'm wrong??

There was a proposal to stop non-use declarations, but it never went any further than that (at least not yet!!)

Cheers gipimann, that's what I thought but several people have been trying to convince me otherwise!

You need to get form RF100A at your local tax office and get the bottom part stamped / signed by your local Garda station then tax away. The plan to make owners of cars not on public roads tax their (off road) cars was shelved as previously mentioned ... for now at least!
