Motor Tax Handling Fee

Hi All..I was wondering is someone can help clarify something for me..

My elderly uncle went to tax his van recently for the year..hes a small farmer so its taxed as commercial...the fee is 288 for the year but he was charged a 6 euro handling fee..is this fee a recent thing or has it always been there?

Hi thanks for the reply......Yes it was being considered alright but wasnt the original premise that it was to encourage people to use the online payment facility? However Commercial vehicles still have to be taxed over the counter which puts them at a distinct disadvantage.......looks like another money grabbing scam to me........
 
yeah - saw a discussion on a taxi forum giving out about it as well. it is unfair if the online isn't available
