I'm in the process of getting quotes for motor insurance.
I've been working in IT since the early 90s. I've no penalty points, full no-claims etc etc.
I gave up a full-time job in February to do some IT exams, but hope to get back into the industry either full-time or part-time soon.
I am not unemployed in that I'm not signing on.
I've got my quote back from my insurance company where I'm down as FULL-TIME COMPUTER ENGINEER.
Will the fact that I've given up the full-time job affect the quote?
Do I need to notify them of the employment change?
With new quotes should I put down COMPUTER ENGINEER still as I am not a full-time student and not claiming unemployment.
The current scenario is temporary (well hopefully!)
I am guessing unemployed people may pay more for insurance. As I remember in the bad old days, journalists and actors were almost uninsurable.
I'm concerned that a 'wee break' could affect me in ways I hitherto had not considered.
Any explanations gratefully accepted.
Thanks in advance,
Gearoid
