Last year I got my Mum a subscription to house and home magazine. 4 issues sent to her quarterly throughout the year. She was absolutely delighted with it and made a change from the pot plant/flowers/chocs etc.

No not too late. You can do it online and you get printout to put into the mothers day card. I only did it the day before mother's day last year. They then send details to the person basically saying what is already on the printout.
