Moss growing on blockwork

Plasterer due next week. Have noticed moss growth on the blockwork at ground level on a north facing wall and in some other corners. Tried to remove with a wire brush but have noticed roots/moss left behind in the block crevises. Any suggestions on how I could remove/kill these roots or will these not be a problem once the wall is plastered? Was considering giving a light touch of a gas torch to kill them off? Any suggestions?

Get yourself a sprayer and some MossGO, it works a treat. Only last weekend I had to spray all North facing roofs on our Dormer, could just about see the Green hew coming on.......... all gone now. It only occured on the North facing roofs, south, west and east were all fine. Its a sort of cross shape dormer, so roofs facing the 4 directions.

hey secman , moving into our new cottage in a matter of weeks and the roof has alot of moss on it ! north facing too . did you have to scrub it off the tiles after spraying etc ?

hi Irishlion,

No we didn't have that problem as I have been spraying it whenever I see the start of a green hew, I never let it get established. So i presume you would have to scrape it off after it dies off, imagine it will be easier to do once its dead. Thereafter spray it whenever you see a green hew developing. Th MossGo definitely works.

Good luck with it

Just an update on the spraying of MossGo, the roofs are completely clear of any green hew , most definitely works. Noticed a couple of houses yesterday, build around the same time as ours (2006 )and their north facing roofs are in a terrible state with that green slime. Shame, so simple to address.
