Isn't the mortgage underwriter the institution who actually advances the loan? Maybe you could give some more detail about your situation to clarify what you mean?
I have submitted a mortgage application to my branch, it seems to spend a couple of days here and there before findally ending up at what my branch called the 'underwriters'. I was just wondering what they do exactly.
Underwriters are people (yes actual people!) who look at the mortgage application form and supporting documentation and decide whether it should be approved, declined or further queries raised in line with the institutions lending guidelines.
