Mortgage protection insurance query

Myself and my boyfriend have just been approved a mortgage loan in principal from a well known bank in the Republic of Ireland. Our joint financial situation is very good and we have more saved than is actually needed for the 20% deposit condition. My question is in relation to mortgage life insurance/protection. What if one of us is unable to obtain mortgage insurance/protection cover due to medical reasons, can a bank refuse to give them a mortgage? Would this be deemed discriminatory?

generally when life cover is refused on 1 party due to a medical condition most banks will accept cover on the remaining party. just raise the question with your approver to satisfy yourself that they will agree to this.
