Is it possible to get a mortgage in other European country (for example in Germany or Holland) to buy house in Ireland – an Irish citizen, living and working in Ireland with savings and clean credit record.

I'm sure it's legally possible but why would any bank bother, the hassle of trying to repossess if needs be when you are not even based in the country probably outweighs any benefits and especially in a volatile property market. I don't think it is going to happen any time soon.

I banked with Barclays for a number of years. I asked them if they would provide a mortgage on a property in Ireland with a LTV of 50% when I was still a customer and the answer was a clear no. It was simply not worth the hassle for them to provide mortgages in jurisdictions they did not have a level of retail operations in. They would provide them in Spain if memory serves me correct though
