Mortgage lender - what do they gain after UK bankruptcy?

Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong section....

I am trying to find out what my lender gets when I complete bankruptcy in the UK.
1. Does it cost them when we go through bankruptcy?

2. Do they get any money from say NAMA?

3. Do they just get whatever the house makes when its auctioned?

4. Do they just loose the rest of the money owing on the mortgage?

I am just trying to understand, as they have refused to let us sell the house and write off the shortfall and arrears. ( Not that I am surprised, but we gave it a go anyway?
