Can anyone explain to me what interest supplement is and who may be intitled to it? I saw it today in the Tribune and this would help me out alot right now if I was able to go for it.. Thanks!
Mortgage Interest Supplement is part of the Supplementary Welfare Allowance scheme, and assists persons who are on a Social Welfare payment with mortgage repayments.
There are some qualifying conditions, including a means-test (where all household income is taken into account).
You'll find more information on it here (go to section 9 on the page) and you can get application forms from the Community Welfare Officer at your local health centre.
