Im a single parent and until recently i have never had to claim One Parent Family Allowance as I had always been working fulltime, earning enough to support me and my child, pay my mortgage and live comfortably enough, although there was never much left at the end of the month, we survived.
Then my hours in work were cut and it meant I had to claim job seekers for the days i wasn't working, during my visit to the social welfare office they told me I had to claim One Parent Family Allowance, which I did, and 10 MONTHS later the claim came through!
They forgot about me, my emails and phone calls fell on deaf ears and it wasn't until I got a really nice lady on the phone one day my claim was "Fast tracked" and eventually it was all sorted.
During the 10 months waiting, I contacted my mortgage company and got my payments onto interest only, Im with KBC, formerly IIB, they've been so accommodating and always really helpful, but now the payments are due to revert to normal next month so I applied to my CWO for mortgage interest supplement and was refused on the basis my ex-partner is named on the mortgage, and I'm currently over the income limit for my portion of the interest repayments!
He does not contribute and never has, putting him on the mortgage was a last resort at the time! He is not on the deeds and is never likely to be...(that's a whole other problem and not one that's up for discussion right now, but ill cross that bridge when I come to it lol)
Is there anything I can do as he doesn't contribute and never has done? Can I appeal? He pays 20 per week maintenance for our daughter.
