I started a mortgage about 14 months ago, and never applied for the Mortgage Interest Tax Relief to be deducted at source. What is the situation now if I apply for it, do I get a lump sum backed dated ?

yes I think you will, You should ring revenue yourself

Yes - you should get it backdated. You can [broken link removed] but you may still want to contact (I prefer to do this in writing as it guarantees a response) them in relation to the backdated relief. Did your lender never give you a [broken link removed] to complete and submit?

same happened to me and they didnt give us a lump sum the EBS just absorbed the credit we built up into our mortgage for the rest of the year.

Yes - that's what I would have expected rather than getting any sort of hard cash refund. I should have made that clearer in my post above.
