Typically if the local authority are satisfied that the seller is purchasing another house ( i.e not going to be homeless and therefore back on housing list) and the purchaser is going to occupy the house( i.e is not an investor but is someone who will live there themselves) consent is given. However this is subject to the proviso that the devil is always in the detail and before buying you should read all the small print with the benefit of legal advice.

The reason I would want to sell if I bought my council house is that I really don't want my kids growing up here any more than they already have - however the discount we would get on the house is a great temptation - we would only be selling to move elsewhere so I can't see that being a problem for the council if it came to that.

Mommah - thank you for your advice - I do realise that my debts are my problem, caused by me and my silly spending. However I can manage them quite well and still live all right - my next step is to stop the spending and work on the re-paying to get rid of the debts so we can get a mortgage and get out of dodge city for good.

We are not complete spendaholics though - we actually have some savings for those rainy days and big bills.
