I am full time permanent and my wife is a nurse on a 2 year hse contract and cannot get permanency due to the public sector recruitment freeze. I read that contract employees can't be considered on mortgages, are banks such a Aib flexible on this condition as we are looking to buy in mid 2014?
There is a dire need for ICU and theatre nurses, EM also but not so much. Permanent contracts are available for nurses in theatre and ICU.
The HSE have recently gone abroad for ICU nurses such is the shortage in this area. I take it your wife is a recent graduate nurse so she should focus her future career on those areas. From what I can see ICU and theatre nurses are never out of work.
I was only made permanent late in 2013 having spent almost 6 years in contract employment. Eariler this year I secured a mortgage with both permenent TSB and AIB while still being a contract employee. There is hope out there and some banks are prepared to lend.
