Mortgage for German Property

Does anybody know of an Irish bank that will give a morgage secured against a property in Germany ?

The background being that I would like to buy a property in Germany and the only way I see of doing this now is using my home here as security for an equity release. I cannot think of anyother way to use the property in Germany as security for a mortgage... (I am not sure if a German bank will give a mortgage to a foreigner a mortgage using the property there as security)

If anybody has any insights to this tricky problem, it would be great.

You can't borrow here using the German property as security but you can, as you say, release equity on your home and/or approach a German bank - as long as you fit their criteria I don't see why they wouldn't lend....
