Mortgage Draw Down: cheque or would they facilitate electronic transfer to speed up?

Hi all,

will banks only issue funds to my solicitor in the form of a cheque or would they facilitate an electronic transfer to speed things up?
The offer said 5 days to issue and there would probably be another 3-4 days to clear.

Any couple of days faster would help as we're in a bit of a hurry to get into the house - baby due in 4 weeks.

Depends on the specific bank's systems. I know AIB use electrinic fund transfers.

My solicitor requested our mortgage funds today from BOI and they only issue by cheque anyone know how long this will take? Our solicitor banks with the AIB so we will also have to wait for the monies to clear. The closing date for the sale is the 5th November.

update: EBS do not offer electronic transfer - cheque only. Solicitor is with BOI so 3 days to clear is likely.
