We put a deposit on a new build last April and were told the house would be finished mid-summer. On signing the contracts this date became Sept/Oct and the contract said the builder has 18 calendar months from date of contract to finish the house (I didn't like this but was assured by the solicitor that it wouldn't come to that).
Foreman at the time told us mid-summer that the house would be ready by September, this became October, however, the Site foreman changed to someone much better and more dependable, but so did the date, to Dec/Jan but was told (by foreman) to expect January to be more realistic. The house is now structurally complete (a sneak has been taken around the site and into the house..!) and work on the internals should begin in the near future (this is speculation on our part).
As we were told way back in June on signing Contracts that the house would be ready in September we proceeded with the mortgage application in order to be prepared for the hand-over, however the certificate expires at the beginning of December and we won't be getting the house until at least Feb/March (newest dates from foreman as of today)!
The mortgage lender is looking for everything except a new application form, including P60s from 2005 and I have explained that this isn't possible until late January 06. Their response was to wait until then to sort out the expired certificate. I'm at a loss, surely with 3 up-to-date payslips now they should be able to extend the cert for 3 months, considering I have already had a mortgage with them before... And by letting the cert expire does it not mean we will have to go through the whole application process again????
