Just wondering if theres any point in persuing the following option. I applied for a mortgage with a particular branch of NIB. Looking for <60% LTV ratio with enough income to cover loan repayments. Our current bank are more than happy to give us the loan but I wanted to move to NIB for the better rate. They rejected our application verbally on the basis that I'm a contractor rather than parmanent (my contracts are a max. of 3 months but have been rolling since I started last year) Is there any point in trying another branch of NIB? Personally I think they're mad as we're great candidates on paper and in my experience, my contract for the next 3 months is more reliable than a so-called "permanent" job

I'd have a go. It's a good rate and worth the hassle of driving around. Given that you didn't get to the stage of it being dealt with centrally, you shouldn't write off your chances. Their customer service can be a little iffy, however, so factor that in to the attraction of the rate.
