Hi folks. I have been told recently that many of the banks are now looking for any transactions to betting website on your current account when you apply for a mortgage....I am not a big gambler but would bet about €10 month on mainly football. Could this be an issue? I know that one of the main bookies in this country allow you to deposit and with draw money from your online account over the counter in their shops. If I stopped these transactions from my bank account can the bank get access to my online?

This has been mentioned previously on AAM. If you can arrange it so that it doesn't appear on your bank statements, then I would imagine that takes it out of the equation...?

I far back into your account history do banks look when you apply for a mortgage?

Ulster Bank will look for 3 months accounts, others will want 6+ months. UB are lending and will turn around an application in about 5 days.

most lenders now will want at least 6 months statements, if you are a customer of the bank they can check back over your entire history

any sign of a betting company on a statement (even if its paying out) would be detrimental

Well I am much worse than you still got my approval yesterday from AIB, so I will say if you dont go insane and your incoming is more than outgoing you are fine.
