Hi,

have someone who needs to transfer some cash to my AIB a/c.
Not sure which bank they are in. But what details do they need from me to complete the transfer - possibly an on-line transfer.

Iban number (usually at top of statement)
Account number
Name of account
Sort Code?

This is what we usually give our clients.

and can this be done on-line by most private bank accounts or does it have to be setup ?

Some online banking systems (e.g. Halifax) allow you to set up new payees (destination accounts) online immediately. Others (e.g. BOI?) let you do it online but then send you out some sort of authentication code so it can't be done immediately. Others (e.g. PTSB) require you to contact telephone support.
