Just want to be steered in the right direction.

I have kept 50k in a deposit account for far too long. I do not need it and it is making no return.

Where are the best places to get info on managed funds.

Are bank managed funds worth looking at?

Is there anything obvious to look out for

Buy into companies that are solid and will survive. Also look at high dividend return. Personally I would but US stock to avoid stamp duty.

You are not alone there.

Why managed funds. The disadvantages are that they have high fees, they are said to under perform, they don't offer any less risk than passive funds.

Banks are the corner shop of managed funds, they offer less choice and higher prices.

If you are looking for an alternative to a deposit account then passive funds are probably the best place for your money. You have been in a low risk low return investment, don't now go all out for a high risk alternative.
