Monastervin commute to Dublin

Thinking of buying here and both of us commuting to dublin to work.
Any with any advice or opinions.

The train service from Monastervin is terrible. Traffic is awful unless you work strange hours. Don't do it.

It really depends on where you're working, and what you want - if you're based west-side (Citywest, Clondalkin, Tallaght, ParkWest etc.) then it wouldn't be too bad as road links are good and traffic only really builds up from Newlands inwards at peak hours.

If it's a question of affordability or getting more house for less money, then you need to consider all of the aspects of moving somewhere that presumably you don't know, and where you have no family/friends ? If the latter is the case, then it can be hard to settle and stick at it, plus you can wave goodbye to socialising and late nights in Dublin etc. !

We're looking at all options, both working flexi-time and a 5 minute walk from heuston. Trains seem just to suit for those working 9-5, so that would be ok for us. Kildare and Portarlington are not too far if we needed later trains.
On the social side, we don't have one with trying to save. i'm originally from Tipp and with the motorway due next year, i'd only be 25 minutes from home and both of us have family living in dublin for the odd boozy night.
