Myself and himself are off to Monaco next May for the GP. Accomodation is sorted but not tickets. Has anyone been to Monaco for the GP - I'm wondering where is the best stand to get tickets for and where to source the tickets?

Try this link; it is the official website for the Monaco Automobile Club who run the Monaco GP; tickets are not available for 2007 yet but email them and they will probably let you know when on sale

www.justtickets.co.uk will also have tickets ( unfortunately at a hefty enough mark up which you can work out by checking the face value of the tickets ( in euro) ie Casino Sat/Sun official price €630, asking price £573 sterling (MSSB)
only the air is free that weekend. Enjoy the weekend though

Trip to Monaco is not far away now. Has anyone been to the grand prix there...any advice on must dos or don'ts?? We are staying in Nice and getting the train to Monaco. I would love some info from anyone who has been before.

Thanks

From what I heard its bring your credit card and your spare one.....

I went to the GP there 2 years ago. Stayed in Nice and got the train too. We had stand tickets in the swimming pool complex for the race which were great and the seats are right in the yaught marina and has a big screen in front of them so you wont miss a thing. Those seats are expensive and if you dont already have them I would imagine you will pay way over the face value to get them. We got general admin tickets for the qualifying and got a sopt at the last bend, its a good enough spot but get there early because the trees will block the view of late arrivers. One tip is bring loads of suncream and cover up, even though the temperature might not be huge (mid 20s) the sun is strong and you will be in the sun all day without shade. Bring bottles of water in a bag because it takes ages to get from your seats to the sales points and when you get there the prices are mad, as are all prices in Nice! Its a great experience. We went on a package trip an dended up getting our room robbed, some rings, watch and jewlery, they left camera and race tickets behind. The strange thing is the door wasnt forced so I assume it was a hotel job! We left our key at reception while we went out to watch the second half of the FA cup final and they lifted the stuff then, since then I never hand my key into reception, its a clear sign the room is empty. Othe than that its a brilliant experience!

Get to Monaco early on day of race as trains are picking up fans all along the coast from Cannes - packed by the time they get to Nice central. Don't exit Monaco station by main exit, follow ground level one towards palace - this plonks you beside ticket booths and race track.

Usually whatever tickets are available will be sold in official booths outside train station. Don't bother trying these on race day. Friday or saturday practice last chance to get tickets.

If all race tickets are gone, you can try qualifying, tickets for friday practise cost practically nothing - so at least you get to see all the cars and drivers. (mind you - with all the rules changes - does friday practice still happen??)

Don't pay too much for tickets on the hill - you'll see f* all - and if you have these get there for dawn on sunday!

Never found prices to mad on race day for beer, food etc.

And yes - bring very good earplugs.

It's a great race and once it's over on Sunday the track opens up and you can walk it.
