What is the minimum amount of time one must be in employmennt for before being approved for a mortgage? I did alot of temp work last year and I am now in good permanent Employment about 3 months. Do you think this would hamper my chances??

it could, especially if you are still in a probationery period in your new role

Cranky, my recent personal experiences show that some brokers will be worried about this but as long as you get a letter from your employer stating you are in permanent not temporary employment you will find most brokers obliging.

PM me and I will give you the email and number of an excellant broker who handled this issue for me.

You can get approval now but the approval will probably come with a condition that your probationary period must have ended before your mortgage cheque is drawn.

or if your employer states that you don't have to serve a probationary period. I was in a new permanent job only 1 month when I applied for my first mortgage and this was sufficient for approval. I had been in another perm job for 6 years prior to starting this one though so not sure if that was taken into account.
