Based on a premium of approx 400 euro up to what rough figure should a person make a claim bearing in mind loss of no discount and possible loading of future premiums. claim would be for a few hundred euros pover the excess figure. What i am trying to ask is up to what figure would a person be better off to meet the cost themselves. sorry for the ramble

Personally I would claim on anything €50 over the excess. If you keep putting off every small claim they will soon add up and over time cost you more than any increased insurance premium.

I suppose the answer is:it depends! Not all house insurance companies operate a no claim bonus system but some will up the policy excess if they're are a number of small claims. You also need to factor in your inability to shop around the year after the claim, some companies won't quote for a number of years after a claim. I would usually recommend clients not to bother with a claim under €150 above the excess but every case is different.
