Mini HD output from tablet PC to Projector

Have an Acer win8 pro W510 with a mini HDMI output. I want to connect to either a VGA or HDMI projector. Any advice on what works / does not.
 
Just get a HDMI adapter, mini plug to standard socket, then use a standard HDMI cable to connect the taplet to the projector.
 
I have an Android tablet with a mini HDMI socket. I have a cable to connect it and play video through the TV, i.e. mini HDMI (male) at one end, standard HDMI (female) at other end.

Can't remember where I bought it, but probably local electrical chain store. Can't remember what I paid, but likely less than €20.
