Microsoft Outlook versus Outlook express

I recently switchewd from Express to Outlook and haave now found to my horror that when I send an Email with an Excel attachment, it arrives as 'WINMAIL.DAT file and is totally illegible.

Is this an Outlook problem ? I tried to send the same find via Netscape and it arrived perfectly!
 

Not familiar with the problem, but most people I know use Outlook at work and I never heard this as a problem. Try sending the email ith the excel attachment to yourself and see what happens.
 
It is an Outlook issue - I don't remember the details, but if you send the mail with the attachment in Plain Text format rather than HTML is should sort it out.
