Hi

Have a messageboard using phBB 2.013 ???

Over the past few weeks having trouble with it

First someone got in and deleted all the messages and lately they have changed the url of the board so it looks like we have been hacked......

So when a user logins it does not go to our messageboard but another board totally unrelated

Rang our hosting site and they said it was a vulnerability with this version of phBB and they fixed it???

Anyone got any others that are less vulnerable or alternatives ?

Ta

Do you know how they got in? Any chance you never changed the default phpBB administrator password and they simply got in through the normal phpBB control panel? Ditto for your hosting account administrator password

Can you not just get into your hosting or phpBB control panel to fix things?

Did you give you any more specific details than that? I'm not sure that phpBB is necessarily any more insecure than other alternative bulletin board platforms.

There are lots of surveys and comments on the various packages available out on the web and available through Google. Obviously we have moved AAM from ezBoard to vBulletin recently in case that's of any use to you.

We Changed our admin p/w when it first happened when they delted all the messages and then they got in again

Yeah we did this but they cannot tell us who did it or their ISP. IF they could we could ban them or contact their ISP

They said it was somthing to do with Scripts which is over my head..???

Yeah was checking out vBulletin but there are costs in obtaining a licence for that so not sure if there where others to keep the cost down ?

There have been issues with phpBB recently, bt your host should have it fully secured long before now.
