I recently received an Update of Information form from Mercer. They are asking me for my PPS number.
Is this a requirement in order for me to start receiving my pension?

Yes. Remember your pension is subject to PAYE and income tax has to be deducted from your pension and paid to the Revenue.

Hi Kimmagegirl,

Please note that Mercer requires the original notification of your PPS number (possible then called your PRSI number). They will not accept other sources - e.g. those PRSI cards or recent correspondence/tax forms from the Revenue.

Ah Steven!!

You're probably right - me bad, me big bad. The poor woman has been through enough! You've probably saved her from a dangerous surge in blood pressure or something! :):):):)

Meanwhile on a less serious note, members of the INM pension scheme are now delighted that they will not have to provide such details to collect their pension..:(

Well Joe. I worked for the Bank of Ireland for 15 years. I was in a non contributory pension. Money was set aside for me for 15 years. When I left the company I was told that I had lost my 15 years pension contributions. Used no doubt for all the Golden Handshakes that other senior management got.

So Dan & Joe, less of your sarcasm. I know how it feels to be shafted as well.
