Hi everybody,
i bought a memory card for a friends camera as a bday present. the card never worked for my friend she was unable to bring the card down untill this wk end so two months have passed since i bought it.

when i brought the card in it worked in the shop so the manager refused to replace it. the manager suggested the camera i bought it for is broken which it isnt, and other memory cards do work in it also.

I was wondering if anybody had some advice on this matter as i dont think its very fair to pay for something that doesn't work,do i have any rights??

Re: Consumer Rights??

You do, if the card is indeed faulty, but I can kind of understand the shop manager's position, too!

Maybe if you brought in the camera it doesn't work in, together with some of the other memory cards that do work in it...?

Re: Consumer Rights?

Alternatively could you bring in a laptop and card reader and show that it doesn't work in that setup (assuming it doesn't?)?

Re: Consumer Rights?

Thanks for that hopefully it works

Re: Consumer Rights?

Perhaps the memory(storage) size of the card is too great for your friends camera (so is not recognised) whereas whatever the manager tested it with can handle that memory size.
I have this issue with my own camera and my TV which can play memory cards; a 1gb card works perfectly in the camera, but the TV will only recognise cards up to 512mb.
