Medical Card: How much savings can I have

I've been on Jobseeker's Allowance now for 4 months and am about to apply for a medical card. I have about E2,000 in savings from previous employment. Will this count against me in the decision to award me a card?

Your grand you can have up to 36k savings (2009) for a single person and double for a couple and still qualify.
