I did have a medical card but when i realised my total income from an occupational pension and social welfare benefit slightly exceeded the limit i returned it. My wife has no pension as such and only income is social welffare entitlement. Am i correct in thinking that because i am ineligble she is likewise not entitled. I know Black Sheep will clarify as usual and thanks in anticipation!
if your total income is under 1200 euro per week , or 62400 euro per annum , between the two of you . the entitlement is in your favour. I don't know if your wife would get one under her own steam. I think it's worth a try, they will say yes or no , by trying you are not breaking any rules.
Unless your wife has a UK pension (in which case she would be entitled to a medical card under EU regulations regardless of income) she would be unlikely to qualify as the means test is based on the combined income.
