medical card & dental work

Hi

I was wondering how i go about getting a dental check up/teeth cleaning using my medical card. I've never used it for this before and i don't have a regular dentist. Do i just ring up a local dentist and ask make an appointment?

Or do i have to ask do they take new medical holders etc and is it all free or any costs?

Just ring up and ask do they take medical card holders and they'll sort out the rest...all the basic stuff is free
