Medical Card Application

Hi I am just wondering if anybody can tell me how long it takes for medical card application to be seen, I sent an application form off weeks ago and havnt heard a peep yet.

Hi Aisling Kelly, in this part of the Country the application is handed to the Community Welfare Officer. He looks at it and takes it away and if it is a renewal the new one wont appear until the old one expires ( 2 Months ) maybe. If this is a first application it can also take a long time. Why dont you phone up if you are getting anxious.

hi, i am applying for a medical card as i have been made unemployed, I bought a house a few yrs ago and am availing of the rent a room scheme, on the application for it asks if i have other income. should i put down rent from tenents.. i guess it is income even tho i dont get to actually spend it but goes straight to the mortgage.. and do u think that avaiing of the rent a room scheme will it hinder me in maybe getting the card?

You should declare all income, regardless of how it's earned. You are also asked for details of your mortgage payments, which are taken into account when calculating entitlement to a medical card, so you may find that one will balance out the other - and you won't be worrying about not having disclosed all information!

hi,i have a medical card and when my daughter was born it took 4 weeks to get hers.why dont you give them a ring.
