A little help please..
I want to know if I should apply for a medical card. My wife and I are in our sixties ( 69 and 66 respectively). We both receive the full contributory state pension. That's our total income. We have savings of E 30k and my wife has a cottage in her name valued approx e250k. It is not rented out. (Would need a bit of work)
My question is would we be considered for a medical card. My wife has an ongoing medical condition.
Thanks for any help.

You will be means tested and the fact you have second home worth 250k will more than like go against you.

If you could just hang on till one of you is 70 then the whole (means test) senario changes and you would be most likely to get a medical card based on the information given.

If your wife is the 69 year old then wait till her birthday as she will be exempt from means test afaik.
As BlackSheep as stated above.
