So Mrs Crazywater applies for a refund of medical expenses. All the expenses related to her, she filled out the paperwork and signed the forms and what do you know the check arrives payable to Mr Crazywater only!

Maybe the man of the house is the [broken link removed] under joint/aggregated married taxation in which case I think that correspondence will be addressed to him. In the absence of instructions to the contrary I think Revenue will take the highest earning spouse as the nominated assessable spouse when putting a couple on joint/aggregated married taxation but you can get them to change it if necessary.

Tax refunds are apportioned based on tax paid in that year. If ye both paid an equal amount of tax refund would be split 50:50. Based on the above I would assume she paid no tax in that year.

We just thought it was rather funny that's all. No Clarkey, Mrs Crazywater did pay tax.

However, Mrs Crazywater was quick to remind me that we only have joint accounts.
