Med 1 Question

My father has been made redundant, there are a lot of medical expenses coming up for my mother whom is not working. Now I presume neither of them can claim using the Med1 but would I be able to claim for my mother, and if so how would effect me??

I presume I would have prove she is a dependent which I think would be next to near impossible but just want to get this clarified.

If you pay the expenses, you don't have to be related to the person to claim them.
