Med 1 & alternative remedies

Hi

Are alternative remedies allowable under the med 1? A colleague here uses chinese medicine for a digestive complaint.
 
not as far as I am aware of, you can only claim for prescription medicine expenses.
 
I agree with the previous poster but what precisely do you mean by "alternative" remedies and "Chinese" medicine?
 
Traditional Chinese Medicine, she gets it from a shop called Dr & Herbs in Galway...swears
 
Petal is correct as far as I know. Only stuff prescribed by a doctor qualifies for tax relief. I don't think that any GP would prescribe (m)any so called "alternative" treatments.
