Hi , am in the process of getting a private House Built by a Builder . Certain sections are going out to Tender and this includes the Plumbing Have been recommended to use a Mechanical Contractor to obtain Design and Build tenders and then send these out to Plumbers to Quote for .

Am wondering if this is a bit of overkill as it is not a House with 'Bells and Whistles’. House is 3000 Sq foot two storey Build, nothing fancy, using Radiators, Oil Fired Burner and Solar Panels and rain water recovery system for Toilets. no Underfloor heating, no Geo Thermal . So i am thinking that any Plumber worth his salt would be able to do this. am i missing something here !! .

Regards, Jumper 1

Do you mean mechanical consultant? If so then I would be inclined to think it is a way over the top for a straightforward setup like boiler/rads and solar panels.

Any competent plumber will be able to price for a job like this without a tender document from a mechanical consultant. The design involved isn't rocket science.
