Having been claiming jobseekers benefit for a year , how does owning your own home without having a mortgage on it effect your entitlements to obtain job seekers allowance by way of means test ?
thanks.
It doesn't affect your entitlements. "Property personally used or enjoyed" is not counted as means, regardless of whether there's a mortgage on it or not. It would only be counted as means if you weren't living in it.

But if you are using your savings to pay off a mortgage, & your savings are taken into account as means, surely they take account that your savings will deplete as a result of paying a mortgage or am I missing something
